Meet the Cast

Once I felt that I had experienced all that Skyrim had to offer, I started to role-play. I created characters and gave them background, explanations for their scars, favorite weapons, and tragic backstories. I went a little nuts. I have four profiles, one of which is my “I did absolutely everything and she is invisible” main character and the either three are role-playing characters in different factions. The following is a brief description of them.

Gwendolin
Gwendolin is my Nord "everything" character. She sided with the Stormcloaks, vampires, and all of the Daedric Princes.

Currently she is wearing Lustmord Vampire Armor by AmethystDeciever.

Katianna
Katianna is my Dunmer Thief Member.

Personality: "Katianna has always been very quiet and tended to blend into the shadows when she was little. Nothing has changed as an adult. She will always try to use her brain before her brawn. She loves to keep her husband [Dals Andavel]with her while she travels and anywhere they are together is home."

Biography: "Katianna grew up poor and always wished for something greater. Her family life hadn’t been anything too great either, and when her father went to jail for thievery, she and her mother had nothing to live on. Her father had taught her a lot before he died in prison and she used his tips to keep them afloat until her mother’s death. With no family left in Morrowind, she fled to Skyrim, looking for something greater. With Dals, she found it."

Secret: "Her dream has always to be one of the fabled Nightingales. She has only ever told her husband Dals this."

Persephone (Before)
Persephone is my Nord Vampire/Dark Brotherhood Assassin.

Personality: "Persephone is absolutely ruthless. She will kill anyone and steal anything as long as someone is willing to compensate for her time. She never loved anything except killing until she met Orben."

Biography:  "Persephone remembers nothing before getting off of the carriage at Helgen. People kept telling her that she murdered all of those citizens in cold blood, so she accepted it. Once she escaped, she headed to Riverwood (mainly due to proximity) and entered the Sleeping Giant Inn where she met the man of her dreams. Orben taught her all that he knew about the Dark Brotherhood and helped her turn her passion into an epic career. She doesn’t know what she would do without him..."

Secret: "She may or may not have been at the heart of the mass murder of the citizens of Helgen..."

Persephone (After)
Persephone once her memory was restored.

Biography: "Valerica told Harkon that Persephone had died at birth but secretly she hid her from him to save her from his wrath. When the family became vampires so did Persephone. Valerica feared that Harkon would discover Persephone and sent her to Falkreath, where she remained in hiding until one of Persephone’s spells went awry and she lost her memory."

Secret: "She recently discovered that she is the long lost daughter of Lord Harkon and Valerica, Serana’s younger sister."

Volana
Volana is my Altmer College of Winterhold Mage.

Personality: "Volana is on a perpetual quest for knowledge. She isn’t afraid to fight on her quest. However, she will always rather reason with someone rather than fight."

Biography: "Both of Volana’s parents are accomplished librarians. They have always pushed both Fiiralmo and herself to follow in their footsteps. Fiiralmo and Volana set off in different directions from Summerset Isle. Fiiralmo went to Cyrodiil and Volana traveled even further to the cold of Skyrim. On her way to the College of Winterhold she was accused of stealing books..."

Secret: "Volana has an obsession with knowledge, a crazy obsession..."

That's a brief glance at my main characters. I had a lot of fun building them up. (Not all of their information was included. This is a brief overview.) I recommend roleplaying for anyone that has become bored with Skyrim. I also recommend DLCs and mods but roleplaying still works for those with light wallets and/or weak computers.

Mod Monday - Sicarius' Refuge

I’d like to kick off the first Mod Monday with Elianora’s Sicarius’ Refuge.

First of all, I want a huge amount of applause for Elianora! I am not one who comments directly but I absolutely love your work! You put so much hard work into each of your projects. Never let a lack of comments and likes to get you down because some of your biggest fans might be shy like me!

So, Elianora has a ton of different houses for all different characters*, but now I’d like to talk about Sicarius’ Refuge. I fell in love with this mod. I have several different characters and each one has at least one house (mostly downloaded houses). My assassin character lives in the Refuge and it fits her needs completely (as does every Elianora house). Elianora herself describes the Refuge:

“I am willing to bet a few septims that not every assassin likes to live in a moldy dungeon full of gore and blood. Some of us have class! We like the comforts of a well-kept home with all mod cons! So here's my attempt at making the perfect assassin's hideout…”

Persephone (in Assassin's Armour) after Praying at the Altar of Sithis.

The Refuge comes in two flavors: Hearthfire/Dawnguard and Vanilla. The Refuge is located a little ways from Morthal so you can fast travel and get inside without being mauled by its guards if you caused a little ruckus. In game acquisition is free. All you have to do to acquire the Refuge is to kill the previous owner (he’s already dead so I guess you are re-killing him), loot the body and take his key. The mod also comes with a ton of custom stuff that you can’t get all in one mod, like poison arrow crating, a disenchanting font, a functional Altar of Sithis, a Jarrin Root plant, a mirror to change your appearance, a functional bath, and a retractable follower bed! Elianora also included her fabulous Assassin’s Armour**, which she also has as an individual download.

I recommend you check out Elianora if you are an avid lover of homes, armours, and Uncle Sheo Does Legendary Loading Screens!

*Other homes:
And many more for every type of player!

**Other Armours:
Battlemage Armour (Female)
Blue Telvanni Mage Robes
Telvanni Hood
Northguard Ranger Armor
Ancient Nightingale Gear

Welcome to Ruminations!

Greetings!

Ruminations on the Elder Scrolls is actually a real book in Skyrim. (Stay tuned this Saturday to read the book itself.) Once I was introduced to Skyrim, it took over my life. After my brother realized I was becoming addicted and cut me off, I literally dreamed that Alduin was attacking our house! My brother had Skyrim on Xbox and when I got Skyrim for my PC I continued to use an Xbox controller. Now, I know that some of you may look down upon me for using a controller but I DON’T CARE. This is my blog and I will run it as I wish.

Every Monday I will blog about one of my favorite Skyrim mods (from the Nexus, specifically). From hence forth, Mondays will be known as Mod Mondays. Throughout the week I will blog about various things in Skyrim that I love or have a comment on, while on Saturdays I’ll post screenshots from my in-game Skyrim experience.

I’m sure that you’re wondering if I am “qualified” to even have a Skyrim blog. Well, I’ll have you know that I am at level 85 in my main profile. (Check back tomorrow to see all of my characters!) I have each expansion and have messed with various mods. I have gotten to the point where I feel like I have done everything and needed something to motivate me in-game. So Ruminations was born! I love Skyrim and hope you find this blog as enjoyable as I do! Feel free to comment and share among various mediums (just make sure you send them back my way)!

Did I overlook one of your favorite Skyrim aspects? Email me at hersheykat10@gmail.com and I’ll spotlight it!
