On the Matter of Cicero...

There are many varying opinions regarding Cicero, Keeper of the Night Mother. Many people hate him and just as many people love him. Those who hate him question others' love for him, not understanding why we cherish him so.

*Spoilers Ahead*

I am not devoid of fault in this case. In my initial play-through I killed him. However, upon reading his journals I discovered his secrets and his soul. It took me time to read them, dozens of levels later actually, and when I did I hated myself for what I had done. I had wholeheartedly believed in Astrid and was betrayed so I had regretted killing him anyway, but once I had read his journals I hated myself so much more than I hated Astrid for what she had done. I prayed to Sithis to bring him back to me as I had seen the error of my ways, and thankfully, I was blessed (I console-commanded him back to life). However, his body still lies where I murdered him and continues to haunt me to this very day.

Especially considering the deaths of all the other Dark Brotherhood members, I regretted diminishing our already petite numbers even before I had read his journals. I am not the only one to have faced this realization and I hope that those who choose to read his journals find comfort in knowing that they aren't the only ones.

Hoarding in Skyrim

Does anyone else have a terrible time hoarding in Skyrim? I am nearing level 50 on my main profile and still feel the need to take the single pieces of gold off of draugr. I still check every animal, every urn, and just anything I can! I have a ridiculous amount of money! I could buy everything a merchant is selling and still have more money than I know what to do with!

I've Had it With These MF Chaurus in this MF Game!

So this morning I took yet another Buzzfeed quiz. Seriously, if you haven't taken these things IF YOU START YOU WILL GET ADDICTED. Just a fair warning. Anyway, this morning I took a Skyrim Buzzfeed quiz: "What Animal From 'Skyrim' Are You?" Lo and behold, I got the Chaurus, one of the most despised "animals" in-game.

"You are probably the scariest creature in Skyrim. You do a lot of damage and can take out your enemies in almost no time. No one wants to mess with you or get on your bad side. Also, why don’t you ever die?"

Well thanks Buzzfeed. Now I have something to rant about.

This has been a brief overview of those terrible creatures that can be found in the deepest depths of Skyrim. The chaurus is not the only creepy creature in the deepest dark but it is one of the most passionately despised by most gamers.

The Paarthurnax Dilemma...

(Before we begin, yes I stole the name of this post from a mod, and because I'm nice, I'll link it here.)

If you have played through Skyrim's main quest, you know who Paarthurnax is. The ever popular question: "Did you kill him?" Well? Did you??? I'd say that I won't judge if you did kill him, but that would be a lie. I couldn't kill him and don't think that I ever could.

When the Blades gave me this quest, I was literally sick to my stomach. I didn't want to do it! He helped me, he understood me and what I was going through when no one else did. I'm half dragon! I'm Dovahkiin. The dragons are my kin! I stopped playing the main quest for a while and focused on other quests. When I finished many of them, I turned my gaze back to Paarthurnax. I visited him often and tried to think of what to do. I turned to Google. I hadn't modded Skyrim yet and was reluctant to do so (I don't know why), so I cheated instead. Since I play on PC, I followed a walkthrough to change the outcome with console commands.

I swear that Paarthurnax says this just to tug at our heartstrings. I know that the Blades say that he did terrible things, but don't we all in our adolescence? We all do things we're not proud of but he is doing his best to make up for it. He did overcome his evil nature to become a generally good dragon-being. These are a few of the reasons I could not and can not kill Paarthurnax.

Elder Scrolls: VI???

Seriously. When are we going to get Elder Scrolls: VI (VI is 6 by-the-by). We got The Elder Scrolls Online but I heard (I haven't played it, I know nothing) that it wasn't nearly as good as we (the Elder Scrolls obsessed) wanted it to be. Then there was the paid mods fiasco. Now Bethesda has put ES:VI on the backburner to work on Fallout 4! They are even planning to release Elder Scrolls: Legends before ES:VI! Legends will be an online CARD GAME. Not even a "real" RPG!

"Put me out of my misery!"

I am unsated! I desperately want ES:VI! There are so many theories out there and all I want is a clue! Throw us a bone! Give us something to gnaw on! Or anything! A little demo would be great! Or even a teaser trailer! ANYTHING!!!

However, I haven't played Oblivion and want to know what you guys think of it, especially the Skyrim-to-Oblivion players. Is it cool? Is it worth it? I need opinions! (This blog will still be about Skyrim even if you recommend Oblivion)

Sadly Intentional and Purely Accidental Murder

*Sorry about neglecting the blog this week, guys. I've been working on Midterm things and completely forgot.*

"I'M A BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLY!"

Does anyone else feel really guilty about killing butterflies and lightning bugs in Skyrim? I feel really bad about it. "I'm sorry but I need to rip of you wings... FOR MAGIC! I mean... FOR SCIENCE!"

This was my face. However, I do still catch butterflies. I just want you to know that I genuinely feel badly about it. The butterflies are suffering, and I do not feel happy about it.

I just feel bad about killing anything that doesn't want to kill me. But I really feel bad about hurting spriggans. "You're so beautiful! Please don't stab my face!" *spriggan begins to control the creatures around it* "No Mr. Fox! Please no! I LOVE YOU!!!" *cries while repeatedly stabbing the cute little fox in the face*

Above all, I hate accidentally killing things. I swing my sword around, people! Learn to dodge that sh*t! I've given up on having any horse other than Shadowmere. I keep accidentally killing them from either falling damage or them charging in to kill a damn dragon! (I got a mod to prevent horses from attacking completely because it bugged me so much) Dogs also die pretty quick. I just stopped trying, completely. I am a lone warrior because I accidentally kill people. (Also why my followers have to be essential, because I will kill them. On accident, I swear!)

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate Jeremy Soule? (He's the guy who composed the music for Skyrim, Oblivion, and Morrowind. In case you didn't know.)

I can't tell you how often I listen to the Skyrim Theme. I blare it in my car with the top down and sing along to the words of the chorus who aren't speaking English. I only turn it down when I think I'm about to blow out my bass or if I'm driving around houses late at night. I listen to it when I get depressed and it pulls me from the darkness and back into the living, breathing world. I can't thank you enough for all you have done and all you will do Mr. Soule! You have made Tamriel and our world so much greater than we had ever imagined.

I would also like to appreciate all of the little details in Skyrim. The sounds of the wind gliding over the snow. The sounds of our footsteps changing as we reach a road. The sounds of the water cascading through the rivers. The second I step back into Skyrim I am at peace (until something attacks me, but that's life). I can't tell you how much I appreciate Skyrim, which is part of the reason why I started this blog in the first place. I love it so much, and I would be a different person had I never discovered the wonderful world of Tamriel.

Iron Helmets

The iron helmet has been around the block, to say the least. Anyone who plays Skyrim or who has heard of it knows what the iron helmet looks like even if they know nothing else about it. Many people have different opinions about it (like it sucks) but it is infamous none the less.

At the very beginning of the game, the iron helmet has a base armor of 15, a weight of 5, and a base value of 60. These stats (except for weight) will increase with time, but the iron helmet will never be as good as any other heavy armor helmet in-game. No matter how high of a level you attain, the iron helmet will still suck in terms of other armor.
